About Us
The RSM Friends of the Library (RSM FOL) is a non-profit organization of volunteers who raise money to support
the Rancho Santa Margarita branch of OC Public Libraries. All members volunteer their time and financial support
so that children and adults can enjoy this resource. Funds primarily come from our twice-yearly book sales and
from sales in the Friends of the Library Bookstore, which is overseen by a Board of Directors and operated by
volunteers.
Board of Directors
The Rancho Santa Margarita chapter of Friends of the Library is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and
committee chairs who meet monthly to discuss bookstore business, library needs, budget requests, and other
issues affecting the Rancho Santa Margarita Friends of the Library and the RSM Public Library it supports.

Every year, the RSM FOL donates to support RSM Library
programs. We are the only outside resource for meeting our
library’s needs.
We pay for children’s and adult programming, craft materials,
speakers, prizes for contests and reading incentives, paperback
books, audio books, and so much more. Major purchases funded
by the RSM Friends of the Library include:
Replacement drive-up book return
New tables and chairs for the Community Room
Display furniture for the library
As state and federal funding for libraries continues to be
challenging, the role of Friends of the Library becomes more and
more important.

Be a bookstore volunteer!
The RSM Friends of the Library bookstore is staffed by a dedicated
group of volunteers who assist customers in finding books,
checkout customer purchases, price incoming donations, shelve
books, and manage various bookstore sections.
RSM FOL bookstore volunteers work regular shifts of 2 hours, once
a week OR fill in on an as-needed basis for other volunteers.
Volunteers need to be able to handle boxes of donations, push
carts, sort and shelve books, operate a cash drawer, and maintain
simple records. We will train you!
Students 16 years and older are welcome, and will be supervised by
an adult at all times.
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the RSM FOL!
